1.1.0 rc4 released

Postby arj » Thu Feb 28, 2008 9:15 pm

Hi

I'm please to announce that we have a new release candidate out. We have kept the number of commits up. 2.714 changes per day since rc3 (57 changes).

The changes since rc3 are more or less just bug fixes except for smaller changes that are more in the bug fixing nature than the shiny nature. We are really trying to get 1.1.0 into a stable state and with all the changes it shouldn't be very long before it hits 1.1.0 stable.

If you have created your databases with the library builder scripts (mms-audio-library et all) then you need to recreate the database in this new version. There was a bug in rc3 that caused the libraries to insert wrong entries leading to double entries. The way you invoke the library builders has changed in rc4. It will now read the dirs you have specified in the config files.

Another change to notice is that the cache has been moved to ~/.mms/cache by default.

We have implemented no_watch for folders in audio, movie, pictures, games so that even if mms was compiled with inotify enabled then you can still have it working fine with NFS. And also mix NFS shares with normal local FS.

Added the ability to run mms as a user (-u). Thanks Lorenzodes.

Nice changes to lyrics support from castorinop.

Other fun statistics:

We have 666/2 users in the forum
We have just reached 50.000 hits on freshmeat: http://freshmeat.net/projects/mmsv2/
We had 1004 downloads of rc3 in 21 days. That's just the tarball. Probably at least as many debian package downloads.

Have fun.
