Audio start/stop should fade

Postby fbn » Thu Mar 13, 2008 12:36 pm

Hi,

if I start or stop an audio stream (mp3 or radio) it just stops at once. It would be nicer, if the audio stream would fade out and afterwards fade in again.

Same if I start a movie while audio is playing: audio should go silence with fading down and if the movie exits audio should fade up again.

Is that already possible/configurable?

Also just a litte "nice-to-have" feature, not very important but good for polishing :)

Frank

yeah right: http://bugs.mymediasystem.org/index.php ... ask_id=561

So I guess it's not possible with some configuration right now? (alsaplayer or something ...)

No, MMS has to do the fading and that's not implemented right now

I'm not so sure about it. At least there exists a --crossfade option for the alsaplayer. Couldn't this be used for that somehow.

gstreamer support crossfade (rhythmbox 0.11.2 implements it)

alsaplayer's crossfade option doesn't do anything ?! ;)

MMS is able to set volume, so it shouldn't be that hard to implement that feature

Yes, but...
this forum is full feature-request atm. I very much dislike this situation. Not in general, but now!
We don't have 1.1.0 stable, beside this, Anders is about to change the look of MMS, by optimizing the selector (your idea btw). That should be enough for the next weeks, don't you think, too?

Andreas

Yeah fading is really nice. If someone would port it from rhythmbox I would be very happy.
