Running at command for shutdown

Postby Seraphyn » Sun Jan 27, 2008 4:39 pm

It would be nice to have the possibility for an at-command.
So that i could shutdown, as example at 2:00 am a shutdown.

Greetings Seraphyn

Yes, or a "shutdown after 2h w/o input activity"

Could you file this into our bug-base as feature-request? I would vote for it ;-)

Andreas

Standby Mode

Postby hendrik » Thu Feb 21, 2008 7:51 am

I thought about something similar: a standby mode together with the VDR shutdown functionality.

Description:

VDR has a shutdown functionality: after a configurable time of user inactivity it calls a shutdown script which can call several other shutdown-hooks, each hook can cancel the shutdown. For example such a hook could check if a specified process is running or if a file exists or whatever.

MMS Standby Mode:

The Standby Mode is active on startup (important if system was started via wakeup (acpi/bios)) and may become active after a configured time of inactivity (+mms currently does play anything). Standby mode can also be activated via the exit menu.

For the VDR-integration the standbymode writes some kind of file (like the famous pid-files) or some content into a file. The VDR shutdown-hook checks for this file and continues shutdown if it exists.

At Standby-Mode the screen could show some nice picture, any key press cancels the mode immediately.
