Postby beachboy » Sat Nov 28, 2009 8:21 pm

Hi All,

well strange, I have a big problem.
If I start MMS, nothign happens.
Closing VDR and starting MMS from the console,
the following happens:

Speicherzugriffsfehler

Any ideas?
I have gdb not on my system, if you tell me witch package
I have ti install, I could provide the dump.

I`m just using thze picture and the audio plugin.

mms -e says:
Running mms as user root (uid=0)
Vollständige Liste aktiver Gruppen für Benutzer root
- gid=0 (root) - main/default group
- gid=29 (audio)

You have chosen to execute mms with superuser privileges.
This is highly discouraged and it constitutes a security risk.
I hope you know what you're doing.

(yes, I run it as root...)

Would be great if you could give me some tips where to search for the problem.
By the way, the only thing i did today:
Started mms-audio-libary --> Mms till worked
Started mmy-pic-libary --> MMS still worked
Change audio mode back to graphical -- still worked
After changing some lirc key definitions, it seemed
to crash, but I can`t see, how that would cause that
issue...

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi,

I assume you meant ulimit -c unlimit
to remove the restriction for core file size, right?

How do I start gdb mms -u root?

Best regards,

Guenter

HI,

obviously I misinterpreted the error message.
The Crash message comes, when I end MMS with ctrl-C
when started from the console.

GDB doesn`t really show something interesting, but perhaps,
you see more thant I:
(gdb) run -u root

Just forgot one information.
I copied all configuration files from my backup image,
back to /etc/mms/, and the issue is still there.

Would be thankful for any help.

Best regards,

Günter

pls install mms-dbg
and read:
http://wiki.mymediasystem.org/wiki/inde ... ug_reports

You're using dvb-out?

Yes, I use DVB-out plugin.

I have to check mms-dbg, but I can`t do that before tomorrow.

Hi All,

well, I have installed mms-dbg, which caused an update to a new version.
Now, the behavior changed:
ctvdr:/etc/mms# mms -u root
Running mms as user root (uid=0)
Vollständige Liste aktiver Gruppen für Benutzer root
- gid=0 (root) - main/default group
- gid=29 (audio)

You have chosen to execute mms with superuser privileges.
This is highly discouraged and it constitutes a security risk.
I hope you know what you're doing.

This is kind of strange, since lirc input is loaded.

Any ideas?

Post the input section in /etc/mms/Config.

Hi All,

sorry for the delay.
The input part in my /etc/mms/Config File looks as follows:
### INPUT ####

# Input devices
#
# choose between: keyboard, lirc and evdev
#
# multiple input can be enabled by specifying several lines
#
input = lirc # keyboard

Any ideas?

Best regards,

Günter

PS: VDR works with lirc, so lirc is working...

yeah, well...

that line should read:

Code: Select all

input = lirc

In other words you should remove the "# keyboard" part.

Hi Lorenzodes,

well, I will try, but, as I see it, the rest (#keyboard) I just
left there as a comment, shouldn`t really have an effect.

But, again, I will certainly change that
and test, whether it has an effect.

Best regards and thank for your help,

Wrong, the '#' character marks a comment only if it is the 1st character in the line, hence mms looks for an input plugin named "lirc # keyboard", which does not exist.
