Hi,

I am trying to start mms on X11 but get an error message like:

SDL: Could not initialize Unable to open a console terminal

What's going wrong?

Best Regards
Marcus

Hi,
I'm using an ultra-minimalistic window-manager (matchbox), for only having the Alt+Tab combination to switch from application to application, these are at start-time: mms and an xterm for the console log. The big advantage is then, you can switch among all applications you start afterwards from within mms.

This is how I'm doing it for years:

.bash_profile

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
xinit   -- :0 -dpi 175
sleep 5

logout

.xinitrc

Code: Select all

sudo rm -rf /tmp/mms.lock
/usr/bin/matchbox-window-manager       -use_titlebar no \
                                       -use_dialog_mode free \
                                       -use_titlebar no \
                                       -use_super_modal yes \
                                       -use_desktop_mode decorated &

/usr/bin/unclutter & #get rid of mouse pointer if not in use
xterm -font 12x24 -fg white -bg black -geometry 80x25+100+100  &
export DISPLAY=:0.0
xhost +
LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
xterm -font 12x24 -fg green -bg black -geometry 80x25+100+100 -e mms

I would also be glad if you enlighten us, and tell what you mean by "$user problem", in case someone else has same problem.

Thanks,

Regards,
Andreas
