Python file-manager

Postby esprit » Sun Nov 25, 2007 12:26 pm

Here is a pre-release of the file-manager I made for MMS.

It does not include final actions (copy, move, link, remove...), because before giving access to those functionalities, i want to be sure to handle them the good (user-friendly) way.

What I mean is that it should be well understand by the user what in the left browser will be copied/move/etc. in right folder (and where).

So just give it a try, and tell if you think that all is OK or not.

Fredde: for a reason i can't understand, the RectangleControl I use for background of my differents "widgets" doesn't show in 720x405... I can't find why, every position/size is computed dynamically and should feet. So if you have an idea of what could be wrong ?

http://eesprit.free.fr/mms/python/filemanager.tar.gz

Just extract in your MMS scripts folder and run from MMS.

I know were this problem comes from. The RectangleControl uses a layer behind the background image. I will fix it later this week, thx for the report.

FileManager 0.2 for MMS is out !!!

http://eesprit.free.fr/mms/python/filemanager-0.2.tgz

It finally implements all copy/move/link stuff.

Please use with caution and test with not too sensible data first :!:

Report me any problem.

Nice esprit. The spirit of Norton Commander lives on :D

Kidding aside this program is actually quite useful.

Any chance to include this script into main-stream?
You could leave it in ./plugins/feature/python/scripts/ like the other too, and the one who know what he's doing can copy it into /etc/mms/scripts.

Or a central place for all (working) Pyglets would be cool. Me personally don't like to read 25thousend threads unless I find the right one to download.

Andreas

Blacklisting or Whitelisting

Postby hendrik » Wed Feb 20, 2008 7:50 am

Hi,

I have a small Feature Request for this great plugin:

A black or whitelist feature (some kind of fakeroot would also work) so that I can only see a subset of the filesystem, for example only my media directories and the mount points for dvd/usb stick/mp3 player/etc.

That would also solve the security concerns.

I second that request.
Yes - even my wife could use it, if we only default to /media
And one is free of extending the rights over other directories too (config file)
