When I look through the entries in the General config file of mms, it seems like mms is able to play recorded .vdr files. Do I need to install VDR for this or is the mms video feature able to play those files without VDR installed? I'm trying to configure a media player specifically for vdr recordings.
Thanks for your help

No, you can play .vdr files with mplayer, vlc or xine. You only have to install mms-movie-mplayer oder mms-movie-generic (and the player itself of course) and choose the Player in the Settingsmenu within MMS. If you use vlc you have to edit the file /etc/mms/GenericPlayerConfg
