Various bugs in audio mode

Postby esprit » Sat Mar 03, 2007 9:44 pm

Here are some bugs I found with the actual svn version (dxr3, alsaplayer) :
- screensaver does not work when playing cd tracks
- cddb lookup does not find anything - unrecognized song - (but I don't know if cddb lookup is done by alsaplayer or mms...)
- for those CD tracks, track length is not displayed in the playlist (but it is in the 'current playing space' when playing)
- In Audio Options, the last line (Metadata extraction) only appears when selection is on "Random mode selection" or lower (same thing with SDL + 720x405 resolution - works OK with bigger resolution) - Not sure i am clear, but I can do screenshots if needed

That's all for the moment :D

Thanks fixed in revno 1070.

It's done by alsaplayer so in there lies your problem. It should have a .alsaplayer/cddb dir IIRC.

Yes. That part currently is not working that great. It's related to the fact that you can't get cd info, but not only that.

Good one. Fixed in revno 1069.

Thanks for the report!

Thanks for the quick fixes.

For cddb that is strange, I have the cddb folder in .alsaplayer, correct owner and permission.

Perhaps a problem with alsaplayer cause I can't have it working on my 2 computers. The freedb lookup is done (can see with tcpdump), but it reports :
bad response from the server

bad response from the server
[...]

it woks OK with other apps (amarok/xine).

Can someone else test with alsaplayer ?

CDDB lookup with alsaplayer works here!

Not sure this is not taken from cache (/home/uatschitchun/.alsaplayer/cddb/rock/7a08d109)

Can you test with a "first time" CD or after removing /home/uatschitchun/.alsaplayer/cddb/rock/7a08d109 ?

I've tested with removing all fetched cd's:

Code: Select all

rm -r /home/uatschitchun/.alsaplayer/cddb/*

Here's what I get:
Searching for CDDB entries on /home/uatschitchun/.alsaplayer/cddb ...
CDDB server: freedb.freedb.org:888
Opening Connection to freedb.freedb.org:888 ...
Render::image_loader: found match
Render::image_loader: found match
path = /home/uatschitchun/.alsaplayer/cddb/rock
filename = /home/uatschitchun/.alsaplayer/cddb/rock/8908bd0c
Searching for CDDB entries on /home/uatschitchun/.alsaplayer/cddb ...
Artist: Fischer-Z
Album name: Word Salad
(...)

So it's working as expected!

I can acknowledge this one:
for those CD tracks, track length is not displayed in the playlist (but it is in the 'current playing space' when playing)

Tested CDDB lookup with Gstreamer and Xine, too:
* Gstreamer does not get or fetch any cddb infos
* xine works well!

Ok, my problem is probably with current alsaplayer in Debian unstable/testing

Buntu:
alsaplayer-alsa:
Installiert:0.99.76-8ubuntu1

Debian-Sid:
alsaplayer-alsa:
Installiert:0.99.76-9

The changelogs:

Buntu:
alsaplayer (0.99.76-8ubuntu1) edgy; urgency=low

* Merge from debian unstable.

-- Stephan Hermann <sh@sourcecode.de> Sat, 8 Jul 2006 11:43:27 +0200

alsaplayer (0.99.76-8) unstable; urgency=low

Debian:
alsaplayer (0.99.76-9) unstable; urgency=high

* 01_security_SA21422: patch from Hubert Chan to fix some buffer overflow
bugs. (see: http://secunia.com/advisories/21422/) (closes: #382842)
Upload with urgency high (fixes security issues).

-- Paul Brossier <piem@debian.org> Wed, 20 Sep 2006 00:35:25 +0200

alsaplayer (0.99.76-8) unstable; urgency=low

So, only difference between Sid and buntu is the closed security issue in sid.
It fixes cddb lookup vulnerabilities ... so mybe here "lies the rabiit in the pepper" (see the link in changelog)

I can't test sid's alsaplayer cddb-lookup cause the pc has no cd-rom ;)
