a great feature would by extract the covers from mp3 tags. the imlib2 support that.
and for movies without cover maybe extract a frame with ffmpeg ?

Are the covers stored in the actual mp3 files or just the path for the cover? If stored in the files then it sounds like an awful waste of space :D

Movie thumbnailed has been implemented in 1.1.0. It uses mplayer to do the thumbnailing. It was quite easy and should be easy enough to port to 1.0.9.

1.0.9.

Yes, for ID3v2 tags it does let you save "cover art". This is usually a 200x200 jpg of the cover...not too much space is wasted. I have a mp3 player for my palm pilot that will display this as the song is playing.

I am pretty sure you can attach almost anything to an ID3v2 tag as it is prepended to the actual MP3 file
