hi esprit,

- is the VGA cable needed ? (to get access to the BIOS or the boot menu ?)

yes, it is needed to change the boot priority.

- an USB keyboard ? (to select in the boot menu ?)
yes.

Or can I go only with an USB key and zenslack installed on it ?
you can install zenslack in an other pc and put the hd after the install in s100.

- is the power supply mod is needed in order to install an internal drive ?
i habe 2 vision's s100. one ist with 2,5" (40gb) hd and the other with 3,5" (250gb) hd.
i didnt need any mod's.

- can the disk on chip be replaced by a CF/IDE adaptor + CF ?
you can replace the cf-disk in v. s100 with all other pc-compatible-hd's.

Mikka.

Great, i have a pci slot on my S100, so perhaps I won't need the VGA cable :)
But i will have to mod it for having an HDD power link.

I am so excited, I can't wait to play with it :P

There's a how-to in the wiki describing the process of changing boot order blindly ...

Yep I saw it, but I'll feel better seeing it on a screen first.
If the VGA PCI card work => I'll go with it
If it don't, I'll try blindly
If I still fail, I'll do the VGA cable (the hardest will be to go buy the pieces, then I got friends to help me, so just a matter of time)

EDIT: by the way, if someone has good resources for adding a HDD power cable on the S100 (I only found pictures for 101S on the zenega wiki), i'm interested in it :)

It's alive !!! \o/

VGA card works well (even if I needed to detach the motherboard).
it is now set up to boot on the usb key, and it works...
Now having to test on TV...

EDIT: works nice on TV, no problem 8)

@esprit: It is possible to run the whole zenlack distribution from a memorystick only, without any other devices connected. Giga and Jonny have done a great job. USB-Stick Image thread see http://forum.zenega-user.de/index.php?showtopic=2945&hl=image

Best regards

That's already what I did yesterday :)

But what I want is to have a huge storage place on it, so it will act as a music/video player and a tiny little NAS

1 Liter PC

What do you think of the new "Asus EEE Box"?
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=24&l2=165&l3=0&l4=0&model=2289&modelmenu=1

It's small, fast, cheap, linux-compatible ... wouldn't this be a Media-PC?

First time I read that, I thought of what a nice little htpc it would make. Maybe the most clever(est) part is that it can be mounted behind LCD monitor or LCD TV, by using the standard wallmount. :)

And btw I am not sure if you consider 350$ cheap, as I can not open the link in the first post, I cant get the reference.

Yes, I meant the "Asus EEE Box" ... if it is shipped with Linux, it has 160GB HD & 2GB Ram ...

And yes, 259€ (that's the cheapest I've seen) is considered cheap here ;)

It should even support 1920x1080 and fit with modern flats (but surely no HD-video)

Nvidia combines Intel Atom with own GPU => Nvidia Ion

What do you think? Is this a platform for MMS?

Looks really nice.
But still have to wait for it to be available... will it be well supported under Linux ? that's the question :?

Hello Guys,

First of all, congratulations for the work with MMS, that's what brought me into the new world of linux (after IPCop) and thanks to the wiki and forum, I managed to get it run on a old laptop plugged to my tv and hi-fi.

Then, speaking of tiny pc with multimedia capabilities and low price, you should have a look at this israeli product:

I think I will come back on this forum as I bring each part of MMS to live...

See you later

Xavier
