Location of files in config file?

Postby jwbubba » Mon Sep 15, 2008 8:42 pm

I have a windows xp pc with all my video,pictures and music. I am running mms on ubuntu 7.10. I have samba running. what is the command to tell mms where the files are? An example would help, not the sharpest tool in the shed. thanks

Does this mean that you have two computers? One with windows and one with Linux? If yes, the easiest way to solve this problem will be mount remote share (from windows) in Linux. Below is example command:

Code: Select all

smbmount //WindowsXPAddress/ShareName /mount/ShareName -o username=user,password=pass,uid=500,gid=500

or

Code: Select all

mount -t cifs //WindowsXPAddress/ShareName /mount/ShareName -o username=user,password=pass,uid=500,gid=500

After this command all your files will be avaible in /mount/ShareName folder in Linux, and they will be visible as normal Linux files, so you can configure MSS now.

In /etc/mms/AudioConfig you have to set:

Code: Select all

audio_dir = /mount/ShareName/Musics

In /etc/mms/MovieConfig you have to set:

Code: Select all

mov_dir = /mount/ShareName/Movies

And in /etc/mms/PictureConfig:

Code: Select all

picture_dir = /mount/ShareName/Pictures
