Hauppauge PVR-350

Postby hf » Sat May 05, 2007 9:11 pm

I ve got some problems setting up the remote-control Hauppauge pvr350 witch came with the hauppauge tv-card
after installing lirc and mms under ubuntu 7.04 everything works fine with controlling by keyboard...
then i downloaded the lircd.conf and lircmd.conf from lirc.org and set up lirc in the /etc/mms/config after i ve mapped the remote at the input-lirc
now mms doesnt start with the output

Code: Select all

mms: could not connect to socket
mms: Connection refused

the lircdaemon is running ...

the remote works fine on the desktop
vol+, vol-, mute ..etc

does someone use this hauppauge-remote?

Hi and welcome :D

Forgive me the stupid question, but what do you get if you start irw in a console and press any remote keys?

Regards,

Andreas

ps: sorry, but I don't know anyone in this forum, who's using hauppauge-remote, but nevertheless it should work fine with mms.
I'm very confident, your problem will be solved :-)

hello

thats not really a stupid question...
irw told me "connection refused" but i think lirc is running....

next try:

Code: Select all

root@camille:/# lircd -n
lircd-0.8.2-CVS[12521]: lircd(userspace) ready
lircd-0.8.2-CVS[12521]: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
lircd-0.8.2-CVS[12521]: could not get file information for /dev/lirc
lircd-0.8.2-CVS[12521]: default_init(): No such file or directory
lircd-0.8.2-CVS[12521]: caught signal
Terminated

while starting irw in another terminal.

If you say, that you can control your desktop with your remote control, you should try to find the application that is doing that, and close it first.

Second step would be to check your /etc/lirc/hardware.conf, and ensure the "DEVICE=" option points really to a present device in your /dev.
Just verify it by

Code: Select all

ls -ld /dev/lirc*

ok:
the folling things i found out:

the input from the remote comes over "/dev/input/event2"

Code: Select all

$ cat /dev/input/event2
and hitting some buttons on the reomote does some output (event1 for the keyboard ;))
that's why i can do VOL+ VOL- etc...

(that only works with ubuntu 7.04 ... not with 6.10 because 6.10 doesn't get on with tv-card drivers.

ok ... now i have to try to tell lirc to look for this device ....? but how?

you can use all /dev/input/eventX devices as input with evdev, not only gamepads ;)
