mms does not recognize remote keys

Postby fizz » Tue Jan 11, 2011 11:05 pm

Hi to everybody,
I've just installed mms on my ubuntu machine, but when I tried to configure it to use an irc remote, I was unsuccessfull.
Mms works fine with a keyboard, the remote is recognized by lirc and I see the codes being printed in irw when I press the keys on the remote.
I inserted those codes in /etc/mms/input/lirc/default, but when I start mms and I press the keys on the remote, i see the red dot appearing in the top right corner, but I see no action.

The OS version is ubuntu 10.04, the mms version is the last stable package from mms ubuntu repository, the machine is older intel Mac Mini, and the remote is an apple remote.
The codes I receive from irw are

Code: Select all

0000000087ee8104 00 PLAY Apple_A1156
0000000087ee810b 00 VOLUP Apple_A1156
0000000087ee8108 00 BACKWARD Apple_A1156
0000000087ee810d 00 VOLDOWN Apple_A1156
0000000087ee8107 00 FORWARD Apple_A1156
0000000087ee8102 00 MENU Apple_A1156

My current /etc/mms/input/lirc/default file is:

Code: Select all

version = 6

GENERAL,PREV,VOLUP,YES
GENERAL,NEXT,VOLDOWN,YES
GENERAL,LEFT,BACKWARD,YES
GENERAL,RIGHT,FORWARD,YES
GENERAL,BACK,MENU
GENERAL,ACTION,PLAY
#GENERAL,SECOND_ACTION,MENU
#GENERAL,STARTMENU,
#GENERAL,OPTIONS,
#GENERAL,SEARCH,
#GENERAL,PAGE_DOWN,
#GENERAL,PAGE_UP,
#GENERAL,CANCEL,
# IF YOU WANT TO SHUTDOWN MMS WITH A SINGLE KEYPRESS
#GENERAL,SHUTDOWN,F12
# ONLY USED IF EJECT-TRAY IS ENABLED IN CONFIGURE
#GENERAL,EJECT,EJECT

#GRAPHICAL,INFO,ANGLE

PLAYBACK,PLAY,PLAY
PLAYBACK,PAUSE,PLAY
PLAYBACK,STOP,MENU
playback,ff,FORWARD,yes
playback,fb,BACKWARD,yes
playback,vol+,VOLUP,yes
playback,vol-,VOLDOWN,yes
#playback,mute,m
#playback,playback_commands,p
#playback,show_screensaver,y

Please note that I attempted almost any variations I was able to think about on this file to try to make it work, but without success.

What am i doing wrong? Is there something more I could check?
Thanks in advance,
Fizz

Did you set

Code: Select all

input = lirc

in /etc/mms/Config ?

You may even set

Code: Select all

# multiple input can be enabled by specifying several lines
#
input = lirc
input = keyboard

so you have both options simultaniously

Did that, before doing that I was not even seeing the small red dot appear in the top right corner...
I tried both using only lirc and both lirc and keyboard, but with no difference (apart obviously the keyboard stopping working when I used only lirc...)

GENERAL,ACTION,PLAY
...

PLAYBACK,PLAY,PLAY

As I understood you can not use PLAY for Playback here and for GENERAL,ACTION at the same time. If you have a remote with OK-Button you would say GENERAL,ACTION,OK and PLAYBACK,PLAY,PLAY.
