keymapping with lirc???

Postby linuxmik2 » Tue Apr 28, 2009 2:03 pm

There are a view functions which I'm not to be able to set, it is not possible to get all functions.
For example: On the main menu, it is possible to choose by remote control "music" and I see all subdirectories, which are on my drive. But if I want to go down in one subdir, i can press every key on my remote control, nothing works. I can choose the subdirectory by mouse, so theoretically the files are reachable.
Or it's not possible to have a look at the playlist, where and how can I have a look at the playlist, can delete songs from the playlist or delete the complete playlist with a view clicks on my remote control?
The setup looks as followed:

input-lirc:

Code: Select all

version = 13
general,prev,mms.up,yes
general,next,mms.down,yes
general,left,mms.left,yes
general,right,mms.right,yes

audio:

I readed every wiki and looked in the forum and tried a lot, but now I have no idea what more I can test.
Thank you very much for any help!

What version of MMS are u using? There's no input-lirc anymore in stable (current aow 1.1.1)!

Instead all input files are separated into single files below /etc/mms/input/lirc/ or /etc/mms/input/keyboard

Try setting the general keys and use second action menu to see, what functions are defined to what keys

enter a dir is action (ok) for instance. Else try using keyboard, see what key does what (again, use second action menu - space bar - to help yourself) and set keys for lirc according to keyboard

Like Roman said, don't use MMS version 1.0.8.x. It's very old.

Use version 1.1.1 instead.

In /etc/mms/input/lirc and /etc/mms/input/keyboard are all config files you need to change. Usually the keyboard configuration doesn't need a change. So you can just focus on Lirc.

Mapping the keys of your remote control is a real pain! So don't give up too quickly and just take your time to understand the principles. First make sure Lirc is working properly. You can read here a few basic principles:

And here is an old (1.0.8.x) description of the tokens in the input-lirc config.

You can reuse the information in the general part at least almost completely for /etc/mms/input/lirc/default. This should enable you to do the basic maneuvers in MMS. Concretely speaking: go up and down, enter a menu or folder and exit them again.

If you understood the principles, you can go on and complete the other config files also.

Hi, thank you for your Tipps. I'm using MMS Version 1:1.1.0-0prodeia2 running on Debian Etch.
So if I undetstood you correctly, I can delete etc/mms/input/lirc/default?
Under /etc/mms/config/lirc there are 3 files:
audio, default pictures
Is that correct or are there more files needed?
Does anyone have a working configuration for a hauppauge remote-control?

No, that's not correct.

1) Make lirc work at all
make sure "irw" prints some messages on the console if you press a key on your remote.
If this line above goes beyond your knowledge, it's getting hard to help you. It's not a matter of MMS in the first place, but a proper Lirc config. If "irw" works, then you can go and do the MMS lirc config. (step 2)

2) Ajust /etc/mms/input/lirc/default afterwards.
This is done by mapping your /etc/lirc/lircd.conf onto the configs in /etc/mms/input/lirc
If you don't understand this, pls post your working /etc/lirc/lircd.conf here. We will help you with one example then.

Andreas

No, mms-input-lirc should install these config-files:

Code: Select all

alarm  audio  audio_extend  default  epg  movie  pictures  playlist  python  search  vbox
Lg
