[1.0.9] MMS-Themes as debianized packages

Postby Uatschitchun » Wed Aug 22, 2007 2:19 pm

Hi there ...

Up until today we had mms-themes as a separate package, which was only containing the former standard theme: blue

As I wanted to include other themes, too, I noticed that a single package will get blown a lot with every new theme added to it and not everyone wants every theme included

Here's the solution

Every theme gets an own package ... simple, isn't it? :P

All packages are named:
mms-theme-name
and are available from my server.
See (Installation):
http://mms.kicks-ass.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=596

Installation of one of these themes will remove the former mms-themes package!

Right now the following themes are available:

Darkmix-Theme (1.1.0's standard)

Image

Available as:
mms-theme-darkmix

------------------------------

Schatan-Green

Image

Available as:
mms-theme-schatan-green

------------------------------

Schatan-Orange

Image

Available as:
mms-theme-schatan-orange

------------------------------

Christmas-Theme

Image

Available as:
mms-theme-christmas

------------------------------

Parti-Theme

Image

Available as:
mms-theme-parti

------------------------------

PT-Theme

Image

Available as:
mms-theme-pt

Attention!
For to use this theme, you have to patch MMS!
Since 1.0.8.5 the debian packages from my server have the patches included ready to be enabled (debian/patches/00list) - You need to re-compile the packages!

------------------------------

Blue-Theme

Image

Available as:
mms-theme-blue

------------------------------

Toxic-Theme alpha (4:3 only)

Image

Available as:
mms-theme-toxic

------------------------------

Thx to all who have put their work in these themes!

Note:

* It would really be helpful, if the themes have a propper README & COPYRIGHT

* It would even be cool if linking could be done within the themes themselves (for identical items like backgrounds) for to keep them as small as possible

* A note on if the theme is possible with 4:3, 16:9 & 16:10 is helpful, too

* Right now I'm only doing packages for 1.0.9-themes

Update!

New themes available are:
* mms-theme-parti
* mms-theme-pt

For mms-theme-pt you have to re-compile the debian sources with pt-patches enabled in debian/patches/00list

Call for porting

Postby Uatschitchun » Thu Dec 20, 2007 2:09 pm

It would be nice if all of you Theme-Providers could port your themes to 1.1.0, too!

As I'm doing the debian packages for 1.1.0 right now, it would be nice to provide these themes here, too :!:

Roman,
decrease the version number in theme.conf by 1 and my themes and the old defaults shoulb be ready to use for 1.1.0

Regards,
Andreas

ps: ahh - forgot about "Python scripts". One should at least copy these icons from the golden-age for 1.1.0 into the other ones.

Dear Roman,

Darkmix is called mix, because it's a mix of two other themes I've done, and took the best (at least what I thought is best) out of it. Beside these two I've done those days also a really black theme - pitchblack.

These themes are called:
  • afterdark
  • dark-one
  • pitchblack

They are all somehow similar, because the icons have the same origin. The themes are less sophisticated, because I was focusing on darkmix later on.
Are you interested anyhow?

Regards,
Andreas

ps: And of course I'll support you wherever I can *poordropyou*

Bump ...

 Updated packages to not be 'native' debian packages anymore.

 Added a conflict to MMS >= 1.1.0 as these themes here only work with 1.0.9

I have had a Problem with parti today after the update on Debian Etch.
The old one was in /usr/share/mms/themes/parti-theme/ the new one is in /usr/share/mms/themes/parti/.
mms wouldn't start with that.
So i move /usr/share/mms/themes/parti/ to /usr/share/mms/themes/parti-theme/ and it works again.

Greetings Seraphyn

Ups, yeah ;)

Didn't thought about that ...

As I reworked the packages, I renamed the themes without thinking of the consequences ... shame on me ...

But ... MMS shouldn't fail to start but do a fallback on standard theme instead. I'll do a bug-report on that.

I'll close this thread!

The themes we have for 1.1.0 are available through normal repos!

Thx
