Nice to hear that :P

Btw. ... would you mind putting some info into our wiki on zendeb? That would help alot!
Thx :D

All works quite well except 3 problems

We'll get them fixed I bet!

a) ... mms-movie-mplayer wants to overwrite /etc/mms/lircrc.example which is already installed by mms-input-lirc ...

Yeah, correct ... Fixed it! Should be up with new packages coming as soon as rc9 is out!

b) if graphical_audio_mode=false mms goes to 100% cpu load when choosing a directory in the browser - only killing mms helps.

Never noticed that! Could you file a bug on this in bug-db with steps to reproduce so we can fix it?!

c) if enabling dvd-nav for mplayer dvd-playback (from dvd-structure on hdd) does not work at all, almost direct return to mms
if dvd-nav is disabled only the first "Track" of the dvd is played.

Pls try latest revno, as there were changes done to dvd-folder playback! If latest revno (bzr-version) doesn't fix it, even open up a bug on that, too, pls ;)

b) & c) are not related to etch-packages, but to MMS itself! c) should be fixed and b) is a grave one (if it is one) that should get fixed asap!

rc9 is not far away I guess! Although we have a feature-freeze already, Anders added (tststs ;) some new features (lastfm related - nice things) ... so rc9 should be out soon for to test these!
As soon as rc9 hits the light, debs get updated, too and a) will be fixed also!

I talked about b) a long while ago (if my memory is right and there was a beta phase of 1.1.0 it was somewhere near the first rc of 1.1.0) on irc with someone from the dev team as this error was already in the beta I compiled myself for etch. Wording was almost yours "if this error is there it should be fixed really fast" ;)
I will fill a bug report after I sort some other things, but at least for me reproduction is easily reproduceable.
If in non graphics mode a directory change in the "browser" into another directory and boom, 100% cpu-usage forever - or at least until you kill mms.

About c)
I guess bzr is something like svn or cvs?
If so it's almost impossible to test as it would mean that I need to compile it - and my only 32 bit etch machines atm are S100s and SMTs with 128MB Ram and a 733MHz CPU. It already takes about 30 minutes to compile a kernel ;)
And I have no idea if/how cross compiling on an AMD64 etch for intel32 etch works (suggestions welcome) ;). I guess it's not as simple as chroot_ing into an intel32 etch on the AMD64 etch machine?!?

As I don't have any other version than your etch packages it's not that easy for me to distinguish a MMS bug from an MMS-etch-package-bug as it sounded like you needed some Patches to get 1.1.0 to compile on etch.

That's why we have the bug-db, as things get lost otherwise!

Do you use watch_ or no_watch dirs? if the first, try the later ...
File the bug, pls and I'll see if I can reproduce!

Yes

Don't know for sure ;) I always do compile my living-room MMS with just run ./configure on the machine itself, mount / to my laptop, chroot into and run make in that chroot ... else, pbuilder could be your friend!

As I don't have any other version than your etch packages it's not that easy for me to distinguish a MMS bug from an MMS-etch-package-bug as it sounded like you needed some Patches to get 1.1.0 to compile on etch.

No, MMS compiles fine on etch!
Only thing needed is this one:

Code: Select all

--- mms/plugins/feature/audio/players/gstreamer/gstreamer.cpp       2008-03-30 17:25:48.000000000 +0200
+++ mms/plugins/feature/audio/players/gstreamer/gstreamer.cpp.neu   2008-03-30 19:12:15.000000000 +0200
@@ -1,4 +1,4 @@
-//#define GST_DIRTY_HACK
+#define GST_DIRTY_HACK

for to compile with ancient version of gstreamer in etch ;) But who needs gstreamer :twisted:

I'll talk to Anders about next rc! If it'll come soon, ok, if not, I'll see if I can do a pre-build!

* New upstream release

mms (1:1.1.0~rc8-0~etch2) unstable; urgency=low

* debian/mms-movie-mplayer.install: Remove installation of
lircrc.example, as it is better placed in mms-input-lirc and is
already installed there

Hi to all,

mms already convinced me, when using it on my S100
with mikka's great install script

Now I want to put it to the test on a standard Debian etch system.

As the wiki said I added

Code: Select all

deb http://www.prodeia.de/mms/etch binary/
deb-src http://www.prodeia.de/mms source/
to my /etc/apt/sources.list

and ran

Code: Select all

apt-get update && apt-get install mms-standard

This installs Version 1.0.8.5.dfsg-1~rc4

I hope I didn't chose a too dump place and the question isn't too dumb either
but how do I get Version 1.1.0 installed ?
Is there anything important I have to care for, when I remove the already installed older version.

If this reply is in the wrong topic, feel free to move it to an adequate place.

Best Regards

RanX

apt-cache search mms

a
apt-get install mms

will install mms with only sdl-output and keyboard-input, no plugins ... these have to be installed additionally

Ok, we have new debs online!

There are 2 big changes within that version (state is latest devel-tree, revno 2026):

First we got a new package mms-dbg for debugging with gdb.
Second, I combined the sources with the other debian packages. From now on even etch-debs are build from the same sources as the other debs (lenny, sid, ...) are!

Here's the changelog:
mms (1:1.1.0~rc9-0~rc3) unstable; urgency=low

* debian/rules: Added empty flags to override dpkg defaults
* debian/control: Added Section to mms-dbg
* debian/control: Changes Build-Depends python-dev to python2.5-dev
for to prepare for etch
* debian/patches/99_gstreamer-dirty-hack.dpatch: Added, for to have
the ability to build also etch-packages from the same source than
the others
* debian/patches/99_gstreamer-dirty-hack.dpatch: Modified, for to only
apply if system is Etch. Set DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=etch therefor
* debian/mms-dbg.install: Removed again
* debian/rules: Added dh_strip -a --dbg-package=mms-dbg
* debian/control: Added package: mms-dbg
* debian/mms-dbg.install: Added as empty file
* debian/rules: Changed Changelog-Installation
* debian/patches/50_bzr2014.dpatch: Removed
* debian/patches/50_2014-2021.dpatch: Added, for to have latest
upstream fixes onboard
* debian/patches/52_2022-2026.dpatch: Added, for to add latest revnos
* debian/rules: Disabled DH_VERBOSE again
* debian/patches/80_epgspec.dpatch: Added, for to get more verbose
error logging from EPG-Plugin
* debian/control: Added ttf-dejavu as or-dependency to ttf-dejavu-
extra for to solve missing package in Etch

mms (1:1.1.0~rc9-0~rc2) unstable; urgency=low

* debian/patches/50_bzr2014.dpatch: Added as pre-upstream fix
* debian/patches/50_bzr2014.dpatch: Fixed and added until bzr2017
* debian/rules: Changed the way noopt in DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS is assigned
to CONFIGURE_OPTS
